born to be farmed (2025-)

I’ve been trying to look at animals we’re taught not to really see. Through the lens, chickens, cows, pigs and so on stop being a source of food but individuals—curious, gentle, stubborn, sometimes unexpectedly tender with one another.

I move between what is and what could be. There are traces of confinement, but also moments I hold onto: a mother leaning into her young, different species sharing space, something that feels a bit like friendship, or even love.

I don’t always know if I’m documenting or imagining. Maybe it’s both. But in black and white, I find a way to stay with them a little longer—and to ask what it means to be born into a life already decided.

P.S. this is an ongoing project that’s taken on a life of its own.
